In Poor Things, Stone plays Bella Baxter, a Victorian woman brought back to life by a scientist who gives her an infant’s brain. Stone said the character taught her to embrace life’s ups and downs.

“I think this is a rom-com. I see this as a rom-com, but in this sense of Bella falls in love with life itself rather than a person,” Stone remarked. “She has stayed with me deeply,” she added, saying Bella’s outlook “really made me look at life differently.”
