“He hasn’t been able to stand Tom for years”: Brad Pitt and Mark Wahlberg aren’t the Only Actors Who Reportedly Despise Tom Cruise
Brad Pitt and Mark Wahlberg are just two names on the list of celebrities who cannot stand being in the same room as action star Tom Cruise. Although the actor is well-known for his charming looks and amazing acting skills, not everyone is his fan.
There are quite a few artists in the entertainment industry who are not on the best terms with Cruise for some reason or other. While his ex-wives are an inevitable part of this list, there is one specific artist, related to one of these ex-wives, who despises Cruise for the sole reason that he did not treat their friend well.
Russell Crowe Has Reportedly Joined Brad Pitt and Mark Wahlberg in Despising Tom Cruise
As far as Hollywood is concerned, there is no lack of drama and gossip even regarding A-list celebrities. One of the things that make Cruise unpopular among some of his co-stars and other celebrities is his religious beliefs- he has been practicing Scientology since the early ’90s when he was introduced to it by his ex-wife Mimi Rogers.
However, this is obviously not the only reason why some celebrities do not like him. Some of his fellow stars despise him purely based on their loyalty to their other friends in the industry, who happen to be Cruise’s exes.
One such actor is Les Miserables star Russell Crowe ,who has long been friends with Nicole Kidman, who was married to the Mission: Impossible star from 1990 to 2001. Reportedly, when Crowe and Cruise were working together on the reboot of The Mummy in 2017, the former refused to deal with his co-star.
At the time, a source revealed to New Idea (via The Daily Mail):
“He hasn’t been able to stand Tom for years. Russell is a loyal guy and never forgave Tom for the way he treated Nicole…If they’d stayed friends, he would’ve felt he was betraying Nic, so he froze Tom out of his life.”
Cruise has not been on the best terms with Kidman and Crowe’s friendship dates back to much before any of them became superstars. Hence, it seems fair that the Gladiator actor decided to keep his distance from Cruise.
Russell Crowe’s Relationship with the Destroyer Star
Both Crowe and Kidman have hailed from Australia and have emerged as two of the best actors in the industry. Having won the AACTA award themselves, Crowe took over the role of the vice president as Kidman the president of the AACTA in 2020.
Speaking of how far back they became friends, in an interview with Vanity Fair, Kidman once recalled their youthful antics in the town of Darlinghurst, near Sydney.
“Russell came to a party where we invited I think 500 people. And I attempted to cook paella. And I didn’t cook the rice, so it was crunchy. Not good. Throw it out, bring out the beer.”
Although they were reported to be starring in the movie Eucalyptus, the project fell through due to production issues. Luckily, the world got a second chance at witnessing the two stars share a screen in Boys Erased.
