Trevor Noah has been the face of The Daily Show for a long time. He hosted the talk show from 2012 to 2022. Noah announced in late 2022 his decision to leave the show. His final episode aired on December 8th of that year. Since then, The Daily Show has been hosted by several fill-in hosts. The hunt for the new host began after the 39-year-old’s exit.

Several names are popping up who can replace the comedian. Sarah Silverman, Leslie Jones, Kal Penn, and Al Franken to current correspondents Roy Wood, Desi Lydic, Dulce Sloan, and Michael Kosta have been the temporary host and stood behind the desk. However, Comedy Central is eyeing for comedian Hasan Minhaj to take over the mantle of Trevor Noah. Even fans are supporting the decision to have Minhaj as the new host of The Daily Show.

The long-running Comedy Central show received a shock when Trevor Noah announced his departure last year. Noah’s last episode aired on December 8, 2022. Since then, The Daily Show has been working with a temporary host as they are hunting for a candidate to become the new host.

As per new reports, Comedy Central may have found an ideal candidate to become the successor of Noah. Comedian Hasan Minhaj is the leading name that has emerged to take over The Daily Show. Minhaj worked as a correspondent on The Daily Show from 2014 to 2018, before hosting Netflix’s fan-favorite new series Patriot Act, which was canceled in August 2020. 

The 37-year-old previously stated his ambition to host The Daily Show under the appropriate conditions. He said,

“I’m definitely open to the conversation. It’s also a family conversation now. It’s a very different conversation then when I first got hired at the show when I was 29 My life is in a very different place. And so that’s a bigger life/family convo. It changes a lot of things.”

The comedian is open for the gig under the right circumstances. He further added,

“It’s an all encompassing, all consuming thing. And other people have to live with the consequences of what I say. And I just want to make sure everybody, if that were to ever come to fruition, ‘hey, are we all on board with this?’”

These sources revealed that Minhaj is not guaranteed to obtain the position and that no agreement has been reached. Nonetheless, his name has arisen as a possible successor to Trevor Noah.

Hasan Minhaj, a comedian, has been identified as a major candidate for the open host position on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. After a three-month intensive face-hunting process for the post held by Trevor Noah before, may be in nearing completion. However, there has been no agreement happened between Minhaj and Comedy Central, fans have given their verdict and they are happy if the comedian  becomes the successor of Noah.

A fan tweeted, “He’s the ideal choice. He killed his guest stint.” It was followed by other tweets favoring Minhaj to be the new host.

During the current Hollywood writers’ strike, late-night competitors such as NBC’s Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and CBS’ Late Show With Stephen Colbert have stayed on the air in repeats. However, Comedy Central has not aired any episodes of The Daily Show.
