Why Tom Hanks Could Never Be A Part Of Any Superhero Movie?

If one goes through the impressive filmography of Tom Hanks, one could easily understand that the legendary actor has never played many villainous roles in his career. During an interview with The New York Times. The Forest Gump actor spoke about the reason behind never opting for negative roles. He revealed-

“It’s because I never get them, because bad guys, by and large, require some degree of malevolence that I don’t think I can fake,”

Tom Hanks has never been a part of any superhero or Bond movie in his long acting career. While talking to the host of the famous chat show, The Graham Norton Show, the actor said-

“I have never been asked to be in a superhero film, but would love to play a villain in a Bond movie. The bad guy always has this line that he says to James Bond: ‘Before I kill you, Mr. Bond, perhaps you’d like a tour of our installation. Notice the ventilator shafts – wide enough for a man to crawl through,’”

He further went on to add that the James Bond franchise always ends up keeping the worst roles for the American actors in movies. He said-

“That’s why they always cast Americans in the worst roles in James Bond movies. There’s always some guy…who is always standing on the submarine at the end of the movie while James Bond is making out with Halle Berry, saying, ‘James, you did it again.’”

Tom Hanks never got the opportunity of being a part of a superhero movie or being associated with the multi-million dollar detective franchise in his 43-year-old acting career.

Tom Hanks On The Future Of Artificial Intelligence In Hollywood

Artificial Intelligence has already taken over Hollywood and it is quite evident in the sci-fi projects that not only scale up commercially at the box office but are critically acclaimed too. During an appearance on The Adam Buxton Podcast, Tom Hanks spoke about one of the most important benefits of using artificial intelligence in Hollywood projects. The Sleepless In Seattle actor mentioned-

“What is a bona fide possibility right now, if I wanted to, [is] I could get together and pitch a series of seven movies that would star me in them in which I would be 32 years old from now until kingdom come,”

While talking about the application of deep fake, Hanks added-

“Anybody can now recreate themselves at any age, they are by way of AI or deep fake technology. I could be hit by a bus tomorrow and that’s it, but my performances can go on and on and on.”Outside of the understanding that it’s been done by AI or deep fake, there’ll be nothing to tell you that it’s not me and me alone and it’s going to have some degree of lifelike quality.”

Tom Hanks has teamed up with director Robert Zemeckis for his upcoming movie, where the Saving Mr. Banks, actor is more likely to be de-aged with the help of artificial intelligence.
