Sandra Bullock describes Anne Tuohy as an energetic lady who doesn’t stop. Before playing the part of Anne Tuohy, Bullock spent a day with her to observe her personality. While describing the day with Anne Tuohy, The Proposal actress said it was exhausting for her. Bullock said,

“It was really scary. That’s why I just kept saying, ‘No’, Leigh Anne will beat anyone in their energy, any day, in her sleep. When I first met her, I was thoroughly exhausted by the time I left her and she was still gonna go for another five hours.”

To make sure Bullock’s on-screen portrayal would be correct, the Bird Box actress penned a list of Anne Tuohy’s favorite makeup products and nail polish, and she observed the way she dresses. Bullock wanted to be true to Anne Tuohy’s character. She wasn’t ready to say yes to the film until she read the book. While talking about the book and how she felt after reading it, Bullock said,

“It was a beautifully-executed book, especially for someone who has been around football players her whole life, and still knew nothing or cared anything about the game.”

She further added,

“By the end of the game, I was in such awe of what it takes to be an athlete, and what the coaches contribute to these children’s lives, and how they support and push and inspire. I had a real sense of jealousy that they got to experience that and I never did as an athlete, or as someone who could be brought to that point.”
