According to Men’s Health Barry Keoghan’s role, in Saltburn, has sparked discussions, not only due to its intense nature but also because of the raw physicality he brings to the screen. In an interview, Barry Keoghan expressed how it felt completely natural for him emphasizing the sense of ownership and confidence he experienced while portraying Oliver Quick. 

“It totally felt right. It’s ownership. This is my place. It’s full confidence in, ‘I can do what I want in this manor. I can strip to my barest and waltz around because this is mine.’, said Keoghan.”

Oliver’s journey through deception and manipulation within a world is central to the film’s storyline.

Fennell explained that this scene was necessary to depict a sense of triumph after intimacy, which sharply contrasts Oliver’s controlled demeanor throughout the movie. The intensity of the scene is heightened by the revelation that Oliver orchestrated his involvement with the Catton family ultimately leading to their downfall and his claim on their estate.

Keoghan’s decision to fully expose himself in this scene was not made lightly. Although initially hesitant he quickly embraced the challenge. Found a rhythm during filming. 

“After take one, I was ready to go. I was like, ‘Let’s go again. Let’s go again.’ You kind of forget, because there’s such a comfortable environment created, and it gives you that license to go, ‘All right, this is about the story now.'” Keoghan shared.
