Jim Carrey is ready to leave Hollywood behind. Symbolically. The Hollywood stalwart has finally made the call to part ways with his sprawling 12,704-square-foot property, his humble abode, after having come to the realization that it was time to move to greener pastures. According to sources, the actor has listed his Los Angeles mansion for nearly $29 million, as he welcomes life “changes”. Looks like the Ace Ventura has finally found a clue regarding what his future holds (and it isn’t exactly featured in Hollywood).
A property people would dream about
The 12,704-square-foot place that has been put up for sale boasts a sprawling five-bedroom and 7.5-bathroom property. But that isn’t all there is to the property. It comes with a large courtyard patio and a chef’s kitchen featuring bar seating, ample cabinetry, and top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances.
On top of it, all of it is balanced by natural light thanks to its numerous windows, a rare feature. All of that made the property, set behind more than 280 feet of hedged frontage in the heart of Brentwood, a place that would be at the top of any person’s wish list.

Jim Carrey had the time of his life in that home
The house must have a lot of sentimental value attached to it as well. The house, which was purchased by him in 1994 for $3.8 million, was purchased just before the release of Ace Venture: Pet Detective. The 61-year-old must not have had any idea what this home would have in store for him.
It is only obvious that the value of the property would have gone up just like the value of its occupant. Safe to say, it has been a good few years for him. The Mask star has scaled the heights of Hollywood in the course of his career. But it might not be prudent to brush over the fact that he has things he would prefer to wipe off from his memory.
A memory Jim Carrey must be hoping to get rid of
In 2015, Jim Carrey’s girlfriend Cathriona White committed suicide after overdosing on a variety of prescription pills in her Los Angeles home. Having suffered from depression for quite some time, she had warned people about her tendencies beforehand as well, having leveled accusations of abetting against the Liar Liar star as well.
Jim Carrey‘s need for ‘change’ might have something to do with that. He had said that he was “fairly serious” about retiring from acting. He said,
“If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road, but I’m taking a break.”
There was no script after all.
