On October 28, officers from the Los Angeles Police Department found out about Matthew Perry’s death through his assistant who suspected the cause to be a cardiac arrest. He had drowned in his own hot water tub at his home in Pacific Palisades, Los Angeles. Drowning is a relatively uncommon cause of death. However, the death of some celebrities has raised awareness.

When Jones’ drug addiction and alcoholism started affecting his contributions to the band, The Rolling Stones fired him in June 1969. Less than a month later, he was found motionless at the bottom of his swimming pool at Cotchford Farm. In 1995, when asked if he felt guilty about it, Mick Jagger told Rolling Stone that he did not because the ill effects of drugs were not known to people at the time of Jones’ death.

Natalie Wood

Academy Award-nominated actress Natalie Wood stepped into the Hollywood entertainment industry as a child actor. She was nominated for her first Academy Award when she was a teenager for her performance in the 1955 movie Rebel Without a Cause. She was best known for her portrayal of Maria in the classic West Side Story.

In 1981, at the age of 43, Wood passed away mysteriously while on a vacation on a yacht in Santa Catalina. She was accompanied by her husband Robert Wagner, and her Brainstorm co-star Christopher Walken on the vacation. Her severely bruised body was recovered from a mile away from the yacht.

Unfortunately, the Greatest Love of All singer passed away at the mere age of 41. After her long struggle with addiction, she succumbed to it. She drowned in a bathtub at a Beverly Hills hotel on February 11, 2012. Cocaine and heart disease were determined to have contributed to her death.

Naya Rivera

Naya Rivera began her acting career by starring in national TV commercials. She gained recognition for her portrayal of a lesbian cheerleader Santana Lopez in the 2009 popular musical comedy-drama series Glee which was aired from 2009 to 2015.

Rivera was in between seasons of the show Step-Up when she passed away in an accident in 2020. She disappeared under mysterious circumstances while out for a boat ride on Lake Piru in California. Her four-year-old son Josey was found alone on the boat later that day and it took five days to find the actress’ body.

Mary Mara

American TV and film actress Mary Mara was recognized for her portrayal of a cervical cancer patient in the popular medical drama ER. She went on to star in Nash Bridges, which she had later claimed to be a male-dominated show.

Mara also featured in shows like Law & Order, Ally McBeal, and Dexter. In late June 2022, she passed away at the age of 61 by drowning in the St. Lawrence River in New York. The police did not find any signs of foul play.
