MCU Thunderbolts Suffers Another Devastating Blow – Award-Winning Actress Leaves Florence Pugh Movie
Thunderbolts is a much-awaited project by Marvel Studios, collecting a rag-tag team of superheroes who don’t get as much spotlight in front of their other counterparts. Winter Soldier, Yelena Belova, John Walker, and Alexei are a few familiar faces we will be seeing in the movie. With director Jake Schreier at the helm, the movie is expected to release in July next year.
MCU Thunderbolts Cast
Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Wyatt Rusell will be reprising their roles from previous Marvel projects in their iconic superhero fit. We will also get to see some new faces in the ensemble movie. The casting for Thunderbolts was fixed earlier but now, it appears to be shifting as the actors move in and out of the schedule. First, they lost Steven Yeun as Sentry, leaving a gaping hole in the movie’s cast. The filming timeline of the movie is inching closer and without all the characters accounted for, it might be delayed.
In recent news, award-winning actress Ayo Edebiri has cited scheduling issues and bid adieu to the Thunderbolts movie. Marvel has been quick to fill her shoes as another actress has reportedly stepped up to portray the character Edebiri was supposed to play. The role remains undisclosed as Marvel is not giving out more details regarding the plot or the roles of various actors. However vague it might be, scheduling issues have led to many actors exiting Marvel projects in the past.
Yeun remains positive and claims that he does want to do a Marvel movie in the future. Fans seem excited at the possibility of Marvel choosing another actor as Sentry, one of the most powerful characters in the comics. Ryan Gosling, Dev Patel, and Austin Abrams are a few of the actors who are rumored to be in the running to play Sentry. The top choice for playing Sentry is reportedly Tom Gun: Maverick star Lewis Pullman, who was last seen in Apple’s Lessons in Chemistry series.
Who Will Replace Ayo Edebiri?
In an attempt to shade the project from further backlash and delays, Marvel has cast Geraldine Viswanathan in the role Edebiri was supposed to portray. Marvel has not commented on this casting alteration but remains optimistic about finishing the project in time to make it release on the pre-decided date. While the plot of the movie remains under wraps, we are well-familiar with some of the characters who are rebels and do odd jobs for the government.
Viswanathan has quickly risen to fame with numerous projects to her name. She will be seen along with Margaret Qualley in Ethan Coen’s Drive-Away Dolls which also stars Matt Damon. Another movie she has been linked to is a comedy flick titled You’re Cordially Invited which features Will Ferrell and Reese Witherspoon.
