California Assembly approves bill to ban key ingredients in Skittles, other foods and candy.
The California Assembly Bill 418 now lists snacks that contain chemicals that have been banned for use in cosmetics since 1990. One such trending example of misuse of ingredients is that Skittles contains a food additive called Titanium Dioxide, which is banned in several European countries but is still actively used in The United States. Titanium Dioxide is a white pigment compound that’s used to make products like Skittles look brighter and more colorful.
Schwarzenegger Gains Morgan Freeman’s Support for California Assembly Bill 418
Oscar-winning actor, Morgan Freeman has joined hands with Arnold Schwarzenegger against the food fraud. Freeman showed his support for Arnold Schwarzenegger by sharing his views, an image from his newsletter, with a caption through his Instagram.
He supported Schwarzenegger’s thoughts on the bill and captioned his post, “Join us in supporting California Assembly Bill 418. @schwarzenegger has delved into the details of the California bill making headlines for its efforts to ban certain food additives. Swipe to read more.”
Freeman also stressed upon the fact that the support is not to ban Skittles, but on the ingredients used inside the food and simultaneously he even applauded Jessie Gabriel’s efforts. His message further read, “This is NOT a ban on Skittles. I commend Assemblyman Jesse Gabriel (@asmjessegabriel) for championing this bill, and I’m proud to lend my support to this cause.”
He further added, “Together, let’s stand against misinformation and support Assembly Bill 418,” thereby clearing many apprehensions from the public’s minds.
