Ryan Reynolds Claimed Blake Lively Not Having a Say in $2.5M Wrexham Buyout is Impossible: “I don’t make unilateral decisions on milk”
Ryan Reynolds has definitely made it big in the industry. The heartthrob is a household name in Hollywood, having made his mark by featuring in films like Deadpool, Free Guy, and The Hitman’s Bodyguard. No wonder he has no dearth of funds. And he is using the same to good effect, as the Green Lantern star, along with friend and actor Rob McElhenney, are looking to rebuild Wrexham AFC, a British Football club. But even in the Reynolds household, he’s not the most passionate person about the club. It is his wife, Blake Lively, who was there with him throughout the process.
How it all started?
Ryan Reynolds first took the call to buy Wrexham AFC, a club based in a Welsh city of the same name. The club competes in the Vanarama National League, the 5th tier of English football. But this description betrays the place it holds in the hearts of the people. The club, which boasts a 150-year-old history, is the oldest club in Wales.
A rich history and a dedicated fanbase drew the 46-year-old’s attention. He was drawn to the prospect of finally bringing glory to the club. Rob McElhenney echoed his sentiments. But he first had to get the green light from his wife, Blake Lively. In an interview, Reynolds went into how the process exactly went.

In an appearance on Good Morning America, Reynolds was asked how his wife reacted to him buying Wrexham AFC. He replied,
“First off, let’s back the truck up — I would not just buy a team and then tell my wife. I don’t make unilateral decisions on milk.”
He is one guy who “consults his wife before putting pants on.” The Red Notice star also revealed that Lively had been of great help in the process. He continued,
“So, no, we talked about it, she saw some of the things — the blind spots — that I didn’t see, and I saw some of the other blind spots.”
These revelations give an intriguing color to the whole aquisition.

The Gossip Girl star initially “had to warm up to the idea”, but things changed soon enough. It was in May 2022 that the couple, along with Rob McElhenney, made a trip to London to see Wrexham in action. The day wasn’t the best in action for the team, as they lost 1-0 to Bromley, but Lively was hooked.
It was that night the All I See is You star told her husband enquiring that,
“I’m now as obsessed if not more than you are with this club and this community and this town and everything it represents and where it can go.”
One more had been won for the cause. Ever since she has tried to sneak time out of her schedule to see them in action.
