Tom Holland has earned worldwide recognition for his outstanding performances as Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise.

However, his upcoming project, The Crowded Room, has brought forth an entirely different set of challenges, which have taken charge of his mental health. Holland recently shared his experiences with Entertainment Weekly, stating that his role in the Apple TV+ mini-series helped him understand the importance of mental health.

Marvel Studio star shared that after nine months of filming, he struggled to separate himself from the troubled teen character he portrays in the series, Danny Sullivan. This caused him to experience a “bit of a meltdown” at home and even consider shaving his head to rid himself of the role. 

However, the Spider-Man: Homecoming artist took the advice of the therapist and overcome his problems, He disclosed,

“I’m no stranger to the physical aspects of the job, doing the whole action-movie thing, but the mental aspect really beat me up and it took a long time for me to recover afterward, to sort of get back to reality.”

Despite the challenges, he expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to take on such a profound and meaningful role. His journey to sobriety and experiences with The Crowded Room have given him a better understanding of his own triggers and mental health.

Apple TV+ has a new series on the horizon that is sure to captivate viewers with its psychological drama. The Crowded Room promises to be a thought-provoking and emotional journey, as Holland portrays Danny Sullivan, a character with a troubled past that unfolds as the story progresses.

A recently shared image of his character shows him with bruises and a bloodied shirt, hinting at the intensity of the upcoming series. 

Set in 1979, The Crowded Room follows Danny’s life story, beginning with his involvement in a New York City shooting and leading to his eventual arrest.

Through a series of interviews conducted by the inquisitive interrogator Rya Goodwin, played by Amanda Seyfried, the story unravels, unlocking the mysteries of Danny’s past and exploring the events that led him to become the man he is today.

Apple TV+ released the first trailer on their YouTube channel on May 10th.

The cast of The Crowded Room is stacked with talented actors, including Emmy Rossum, Sasha Lane, Will Chase, and Lior Raz, alongside guest appearances by Jason Isaacs, Christopher Abbott, Thomas Sadoski, and Zachary Goling. The series consists of ten episodes, with the first three being released all at once, followed by weekly releases.

The Impossible performer, known for his challenging dramatic roles, delivers a captivating performance as Danny Sullivan, a character that takes him on a difficult emotional journey.

The Crowded Room will debut June 9th on Apple TV+.
