Tucker Carlson Feels Betrayed by Rupert Murdoch’s Eldest Son as Mogul’s Heir Couldn’t Stop Father from Firing Fox News Anchor
Tucker Carlson’s sudden departure from Fox News has created a sensation in the media industry. It was very unexpected for him, as he trusted his bond with the boss, Lachlan Murdoch. Carlson considered Rupert Murdoch’s eldest son his closest friend, but in return, he was left betrayed after he was fired from the channel.
Carlson believed that, as the Fox Corp. CEO, Lachlan Murdoch could have prevented this situation, but as per the sources, he was also involved in the decision with his father. Reportedly, the reason Carlson was fired from his job was because he used offensive language to describe a network executive.
Why did Tucker Carlson feel betrayed at his workplace?
Renowned American TV personality Tucker Carlson recently made headlines after being fired from Fox News. On Monday, Carlson finally departed from Fox News after working for almost seven years. Carlson and Fox News’ decision to part ways wasn’t mutual, as the anchor was fired by the channel. Carlson received the news about his firing from Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott, who was involved in the decision to fire him. Reportedly, the anchor was expelled from the job on the orders of Rupert Murdoch.
It was an unanticipated situation for Carlson, who was confident about his position. According to sources, he was stepping in for a hundred-million-dollar contract extension that would have possibly made his position firm at Fox News by around 2029. Unfortunately, all his aspirations were put in vain after he was fired from his job. What was more surprising for him was that his connections at the workplace didn’t work out for him at the time when he needed them the most. Carlson had a good bond with Lachlan Murdoch, the son of Rupert Murdoch. At the moment of decision, Murdoch’s heir decided to go by his father’s decision rather than thinking about his friend Carlson. A source said,
“Age and experience have not made Rupert — and his heir apparent Lachlan — any less ruthless,”
Another source added,
“With friends like Lachlan, who needs enemies!”
On Carlson’s departure, the network stated,
“Fox News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor.”
However, the decision to fire Carlson had a cause. Previously, the anchor’s action led to a defamation lawsuit between Fox News and Dominion Voting System.
What led to Tucker Carlson’s firing from Fox News?
Tucker Carlson’s firing from Fox News came after a series of accusations. Allegedly, the 53-year-old host described a senior Fox News executive as a C-word in a text message. Following this, a defamation lawsuit was filed against the network by Dominion Voting Systems. The case was settled for $787.5 million, as the network lawyer reportedly managed to convince the Delaware judge to revise the text from public filings. Despite this, Carlson was infuriated that the network didn’t do much to protect him. An insider said,
“He believes Murdoch and Fox — who previously provided support against the producer’s lawsuit — shifted tides to coincide with the Dominion Voting Systems settlement. He feels scapegoated.”
His other offensive text messages against the former US president were made public as a part of the lawsuit. These messages from Carlson’s side became a reason for Fox’s embarrassment. Reportedly, following all these factors, Tucker Carlson was fired from his job.
