“Who the f—k are you?”: Johnny Depp Reportedly Offered $100k to Film Manager to Punch Him in the Face in Booze-Fueled Rage After Nearly Cracking His Ribs
Johnny Depp and lawsuits never seemed to leave each other this past year. The multiple award-winning actor was busy for the better part of the previous year due to the court case by his ex-wife Amber Heard for domestic violence. It was a wild ride altogether.
While everything was going on, Johnny Depp was also involved in another lawsuit by Gregg Brooks. While shooting for City of Lies, Gregg Brooks, a location manager, filed the case because of Depp’s alleged violent behavior. During the Amber Heard trial, The Tourist actor hit rock bottom and was very difficult to work with. His rage was the main cause of this lawsuit.
What Happened between Johnny Depp and Gregg Brooks?
The 59-year-old actor was set to face another lawsuit after settling the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard court case. The allegation said that Johnny Depp allegedly assaulted Brooks after he revealed that the permit to film in the Barclay Hotel had expired. This aggravated the actor as he did not want to stop the shoot. Upon requesting many times Gregg Brooks had to take the help of the police to stop the shoot. Depp was extremely drunk and punched Brooks twice in the ribs.
“Who the f—k are you? You have no right to tell me what to do!” Johnny Depp also verbally abused Gregg Brooks according to Global News.
The actor then proceeded to threaten and challenge him into a fistfight.
“I will give you $100,000 to punch me in the face right now!” Depp allegedly said during the chaos.
The two then dissolved the matter and snapped a picture after the shoot wrap.
Gregg Brooks was eventually fired from the movie as he refused to cooperate and sign an agreement to not sue Johnny Depp. After being fired he did exactly that and sued the actor for the incident that took place that night in 2017.
Settling things outside of the court
The real star of the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial Camille Vasquez was set to represent the Pirates actor in this case too. Fortunately, both teams reached an agreement and the not so awaited Depp vs Brooks did not take place. Although the items were not disclosed, it looked like the actor came out victorious. After the victory and media attention the Amber Heard hearing got, Gregg Brooks wasn’t confident enough to go ahead with the case. The Fantastic Beasts actor might visit the courtroom again on February 16 2023 for the case’s dismissal hearing.
Johnny Depp is yet to make a statement about the situation. The goal for Depp’s team was to keep him in a positive light and they have successfully done that so far.
