Good news for Solo Leveling fans, as Season 3 of the anime has officially been confirmed. The first two seasons of the anime have been really amazing; however, there were some things that the anime could improve upon.

For the anime-only fans of Solo Leveling, the anime was spectacular, and there weren’t any big changes that would ruin the experience. However, for fans familiar with the source manhwa, it wasn’t perfect. Here are some of the things the anime needs to get right from the manhwa this time around.

The Anime Needs to Give Cha Hae-In Proper Attention

Cha Hae-In is an important character in the story, as she is the primary love interest for the protagonist. However, so far, it felt like she was nothing more than a side character. In the Ahjin Guild arc, which will be the first arc Season 3 will adapt, her role starts getting bigger.

When she finally gets a chance to test her skills against Igris and Beru, it is shown as a big moment in her life in the Manhwa. However, it is entirely possible that the anime may simply skip that part because it doesn’t center on Sung Jinwoo. There are quite a few anime like Solo Leveling that avoid mistakes like this, and Solo Leveling can learn from them.

The Double Dungeon Arc Needs to Feel as Emotional as It Is Horrifying

Immediately following the Ahjin Guild arc is the Double Dungeon arc, where Sung Jinwoo re-enters the double dungeon where he sacrificed his life to save others. This time, he is strong enough to fight on his own. However, the anime must avoid making it just another aura-farming moment for Sung Jinwoo, as that’s not what it was in the Manhwa.

Sure, Jinwoo looked insanely cool as he always does. However, there was a lot of emotional weight in that scene. No matter how strong Jinwoo is, he is, at the end of it all, traumatized from his experience. Furthermore, at the end of the Ahjin Guild arc, and right before the Double Dungeon arc, Sung Jinwoo’s sister’s school gets attacked by orcs when no one is present to protect it.

That scene needs to feel really horrifying. So far, we’ve been seeing monsters from the perspective of Jinwoo, and that makes them appear weak. However, from the perspective of a normal human, the animation studio must make sure that the horror is perfectly portrayed.

What Can Solo Leveling Season 3 Improve From Previous Seasons

While the first 2 seasons of the anime make this one of the best anime on Crunchyroll right now, the anime can still improve in some ways. Firstly, Sung Jinwoo’s design needs to be improved. In the anime, his design looks like a generic black-haired protagonist with a stern face. However, in the Manhwa, he is much more expressive with his body language and facial expressions that could bring more life to his character.

Secondly, the action needs to slow down. A lot of the fights in the anime appeared to be nothing more than flashing lights moving at high speed. Jinwoo vs Beru is a fight that is praised a lot, but even that is plagued with this very problem. A-1 Pictures, the studio that is behind Solo Leveling as well, recently animated Fate/Strange Fake, where this problem was completely avoided by animating each and every movement perfectly.

The studio can learn from that experience and implement even more amazingly animated fights in the anime. And finally, including Cha Hae-In, there are many other characters that need to have more screen time.
