New Zealand actor Antony Starr began his professional acting career with a role in the primetime soap opera Shortland Street in the early nineties. He secured the guest role of Todd Van der Velter on the television series Mercy Peak in 2001 and went on to reprise that role throughout the three seasons of the show.

Antony Starr’s first role on U.S. television did not come until he was cast in the action TV series Banshee which aired between 2013 and 2016. The fourth and final season of the show was released in August 2016. In 2018, Starr was cast as the antagonist The Homelander in the superhero series The Boys. He made a cameo in the series: Gen V and he did something that he hopes he never has to do again.

Antony Starr Did Not Have the Best Time Shooting His Gen V Cameo

The finale of the Gen V season was absolutely amazing, thanks to The Homelander dropping in the final minutes of the episode. Fans had been expecting a great ending, but no one could have anticipated seeing The Boys’ character. Now this could have gone both ways because obviously, there was danger in bringing in Homelander even for less than a minute. Luckily, it worked out in the show’s favor.

Antony Starr‘s on-screen presence might have been short-lived, but by the looks of it, a lot of work has to be done for that less-than-a-minute cameo. In a video clip shared by The Boys‘ official X (formerly Twitter) page, Starr is seen getting hoisted up in the air.

Now, this must not be the first time Starr has done this but there was something different happening around this time as someone in the background of the video is heard remarking, “He normally just lands.” His unexpected descent into the sky sent the Rush actor into a frenzy as he began cursing:

“Hahahaha, f*ck off. Haha, f*ck off. Ahhhhhhh. Fffffff…. F*ck my life. F*ck this. F*ck off. F*cking c*nts. Holy sh*t. Oh, not this high. Okay, please. That’s good.”

Antony Starr was clearly distressed about dangling so far above the ground without any prior warning about it happening. The cameo did not seem to be as enjoyable for him as it was for the fans.

While Antony Starr made a cameo appearance at the end credits for the episode of Gen V, Karl Urban made a cameo appearance as Billy Butcher in a mid-credits scene which set up for the fourth season of The Boys. Starr’s screen time was probably a minute or maybe even less than that, but that might have taken an entire day.

Gen V executive producer and The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke told Entertainment Weekly that both of these actors did their cameos without any payment. He said:

“They’re shooting the first two or three episodes of The Boys and it’s grueling. Then we’re asking them to go to that [Gen V] set, put on the suits again, and work more with the fact that we have no money to pay you.”

Kripke also did not hold back his praise for the two stars for shooting the cameos on their days off from shooting the fourth season of The Boys. Starr and Urban need to be thanked for more than one thing by the looks of it.
