Even though Shadow and Bone didn’t gain popularity soon after it hit the streamer but gradually. The Netflix series starring Ben Barnes as the foe introduced viewers to the dark Grishaverse based on Leigh Bardugo’s novels of the same name including seer creatures and a war-torn world battling with a formidable shadow. The Hollywood strikes undeniably had an impact on almost every show including this one, leading the stream to add Shadow and Bone to the canceled shows list.

According to Deadline, other shows that joined Jessie Mei Li’s show are Glamorous and adult animated comedies Agent Elvis, Farzar, and Captain Fall. Fans who enjoyed Alina Sarkoff’s struggles with her sudden transition from an orphan into the savior of Ravka aren’t satisfied with this decision. The second season hit the streamer in this year’s March and received a great response from the audience.
Netflix’s Decision Left Shadow and Bone Author Heartbroken
Not just the fans who were expecting a release date for the third season, but author Leigh Bardugo who wrote Shadow and Bone is also disappointed after the show faces cancellation. Bardugo expressed her thoughts via her Instagram account stating: “The news hit me hard. I’m heartbroken and deeply disappointed, but I’m also trying to hold onto my very real gratitude.” Despite her frustration, Bardugo did not step away from thanking the makers for her book’s adaptation which many authors never achieved.
However, the fans who weren’t expecting the cancellation of Shadow and Bone did express their rage and discontent with Netflix for its decision. According to the X post, they wrote:
it deserved better. the writer and the producers and the cast and the fans loved this show dearly and i mourn their love right now <3

Not surprising at all since its Netflix, the show could still be saved if other platforms are willing to takeover and continue

Shadow and Bone season 2 was even more thrilling than the first as we witnessed Alina escaping from the Darkling by feeling from Ravka and moving forward to hunt down the Sea Whip and the Firebird. The cartographer of Ravka nation’s first Army is also the sun summoner who did all this to grow her powers by combining Morzova’s amplifiers. So, this was indisputably engaging if you saw the first season and this is the reason why not everyone is content with the show’s termination.
Shadow and Bone is available on Netflix.
