The Big Bang Theory will always be remembered as one of the most successful sitcoms on TV. After years of being off the air, the sitcom is still a top favorite amongst its fans. The first episode of the show was aired on September 24, 2007. The 12 seasons of the show ended up making a place in the heart of its audience.

The plot of The Big Bang Theory revolved around social awkwardness. Two socially awkward nerd physicists Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter lived next door to Penny, a struggling actor. She helps them socialize, and help them become better people socially. However, despite their differences, Sheldon Cooper, Leonard Hofstadter, and Penny went on to become much-loved characters of all time.

The Big Bang Theory made Jim Parsons a global star. He became the face of the sitcom. Moreover, With the logical point of view and his popular catchphrase Bazinga, Sheldon Cooper went on to become one of the most popular characters from The Big Bang Theory. 

Why The Makers Of The Big Bang Theory Were Unsure About Jim Parsons?

At one point of time, Sheldon Cooper became so famous that it was assumed that The Big Bang Theory would no longer continue, if Jim Parsons steps out of the sitcom.  According to Jim Parsons, the selection process was simply not an easy one. The makers of the sitcom were apprehensive about casting Jim Parsons as Sheldon Cooper. The complexity of the character was also a reason behind the uncertainty.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Jim Parsons revealed about his experience, He went on to talk about the lengthy dialogues and mentioned-

“I drilled the shit out of it! I was very scared — and excited to present it to them — but scared because I knew that once the train started, if I messed up, I didn’t know what would happen. I remember getting through the first one and it went just like butter.”

According to John Ross Bowie, the creators of the sitcom were toying with the idea of casting him and Kevin Sussman as Sheldon Cooper and Leonard Hofstadter. However, the actor went on to say-

“There’s an alternate cosmology out there where I’m Leonard and Kevin Sussman is Sheldon.”

The actor played the role of Stuart Bloom in The Big Bang Theory. 

Why The Young Sheldon Would Always Be Grateful To Jim Parsons?

The Big Bang Theory went off air in 2019. However, CBS came up with a spin-off named Young Sheldon just two years before the sitcom went off air. The sitcom dealt with the character development of Sheldon Cooper. The first episode was aired on  September 25, 2017.  Iain Armitage plays the titular character in the sitcom Young Sheldon. The sitcom also gave an introduction to the family members of Sheldon Cooper.

On the 100th episode of Young Sheldon, Iain Armitage took to Instagram and expressed his gratitude to his guide and mentor Jim Parsons. The little actor had posted a picture of older Sheldon Cooper along with himself and captioned it as-

“Here’s one more person I’m so grateful to, the OG Sheldon! Mr. Jim helped me understand Sheldon but more importantly, he has always been a great example of how to be an excellent person. We would never have even started to get to 100 without him.”

However, Jim Parsons was a part of The Big Bang Theory, still he was very much involved in the character grooming of Young Sheldon. Iain Armitage has always been thankful to the senior actor for his mentoring during the shoot.
