Harrison Ford has made a name in the entertainment industry by playing various iconic roles. Among them, Indiana Jones became an integral part of the actor’s incredible acting career. He played the leading man of the multi-million dollar franchise from the early 1980s. Indiana Jones and the Dial Of Destiny marked the end of an era for the 80-year-old. He reprised his role for the last time in the franchise. 

Ford with his brilliant acting career that dates back four decades, has made a reputation as a legend in the industry. He is named the legend of Hollywood. However, the Star Wars actor would never use the term legend to describe himself.

 During an interview, he said,

“I don’t connect the dots myself. I mean, I do not know what a legend does for a living. I know that I consider myself to be a working actor, and I’ll settle for that.”

He stated that calling legend makes him feel old. The actor added,

“I suppose legend means that you’ve been around for a long time. And I think it’s meant to be, uh, gracious, but it just, uh… sounds old. I’m clever enough to figure out that it’s meant to be a nice thing to say, and so it must be. But I’m just telling you what my gut reaction to it is.”

Harrison Ford announced his retirement from the franchise during the 2023 Cannes Film Festival after playing the favorite Indy role in five films.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny brought back the famous character of Harrison Ford on the big screen. The fifth installment in the franchise hit the theaters on June 30. The film follows Indian Jones on a mission to track down a fabled dial that has the power to alter the path of human history. He soon finds himself facing off against Jürgen Voller, a former Nazi who works for NASA, accompanied by his goddaughter.

The film’s opening collection showed a drop than estimated. The fifth film starring Ford grossed $60 million in the United States and $70 million internationally. It brought the franchise’s global box office to $130 million on its 3-day opening. 

 Dial of Destiny cost close to $300 million to produce, hence the opening weekend box office figures are disappointing. Despite the last chapter receiving mixed reviews, it debuted at number one and is expected to make $82 million in its first five days of opening.

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is available in theaters worldwide.
