Actor Lance Reddick, who is fondly remembered as Charon from the John Wick franchise starring Keanu Reeves, was a gifted actor and musician. Along with appearing in movies, Reddick appeared in TV series including Oz, Lost, Resident Evil, and more.

The actor died from heart disease at the age of 60 on March 17th, 2023 at his home in Los Angeles. Reddick’s wife Stephanie Reddick later via social media thanked everyone for the love and support. Keanu Reeves remembered Lance Reddick as ‘a special artist and gentleman of grace and dignity’

Actor Lance Reddick was on a press tour for John Wick: Chapter 4, during his final days. The team including Keanu Reeves at the L.A. premiere of the movie remembered the late actor for his talent and kind nature.

Reeves who appeared with Reddick in all four movies of the action franchise shared at the premiere via E! News,

“Lance was a beautiful person, special artist, a gentleman of grace and dignity. He was just really something special. Every time he stepped on the set, he had a wonderful passion for his work. It was really, really amazing to work with him.”

Reeves added that every day when he got to work with him is his fondest memory of filming along with him. Actor Shamier Anderson who plays Tracker in the movie, said,

“That man was definitely one of my role models growing up as a Black man, as a Black actor. He’s on our hearts today.”

Actress Rina Sawayama who played Akira in the movie also took the opportunity to talk about her experience of working with Reddick and said that she will always remember his incredible performance. She added that she had been a fan of the actor’s work and him just as someone who had an incredible on-screen presence.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ show runners remember Lance Reddick

Lance Reddick who recently appeared as Zeus in the Disney+ series Percy Jackson and the Olympians, passed away shortly after the show finished its production. The fantastical show revolves around how after the Sky God Zeus accuses a 12-year-old- demigod of stealing his master lightning bolt comes to terms with his supernatural powers. The cast members mentioned that they feel lucky that they got to work with him and described him as humble and kind.

Executive producers and show runners, Dan Shotz and Jon Steinberg in a recent interview with THR remembered the late actor and shared,

“Lance was a person I’m really glad we got to work with and an actor I’m very glad we were able to have become a part of this family and this show. There are going to be a lot of kids who get to meet Zeus in the right way through an actor with just an incredible amount of presence and as an incredible human being. It was a really difficult situation and a horrible loss.”

In an interview with ScreenRant, the show runners shared,

“Lance brought this soulfulness, he brought this just connect to them that was pretty immediate. I just love how he showed up and actually cared for them (kids on the show) in the scene. And you can just tell what kind of actor he was because he was amazing. He was an amazing partner to these kids.”

They lastly added that even though it was just a couple of days, the late actor felt connected to the show and it showed. Shotz shared during the interview that he did speak to Lance Reddick a few days before he passed away who told him that he was just so proud to be a part of the show.
