In a previous interview with Rolling Stone actor, Johnny Depp opened up about his personal life, financial issues, and his divorce from Amber Heard. The Curse of the Black Pear star reveals the sobering details of his drug addiction and how his ex-wife Amber Heard’s op-ed for The Washington Post in 2018 corrupted his overall reputation in the entertainment industry.
Johnny Depp said,
“I was as low as I believe I could have gotten. The next step was, you’re going to arrive somewhere with your eyes open and you’re going to leave there with your eyes closed. I couldn’t take the pain every day.”
Talking about his split from Amber Heard the Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest star shared,
“I poured myself a vodka in the morning and started writing until the tears filled my eyes and I couldn’t see the page anymore. I kept trying to figure out what I’d done to deserve this. I’d tried being kind to everyone, helping everyone, and being truthful to everyone. The truth is most important to me. And all this still happened.”
Johnny Depp and Amber Heard were once the hottest couples in Hollywood. The former couple first met on the set of The Rum Diary in 2011 and became good friends. Later Heard and Depp started dating and tied the knot in a private ceremony in February 2015. Although his family was strictly against their marriage the Alice in Wonderland star was head over heels for her and decided to make Heard his wife.
Johnny Depp Opened Up About His Complicated Relationship With Mother
Johnny Depp had a rough childhood and he grew up in a dysfunctional family. The Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl star’s mother Betty Sue Palmer, died in 2016 due to serious illness. In a previous interview, Depp revealed details of his childhood and his complicated relationship with his beloved late mother. He said,
“My mother was raised in a shack, in the wilds of Appalachia, where the toilet was an outhouse. She used to say she did the same things that her mom did – and her mom certainly didn’t know any better. My kids, they’re told 75 times a day that they’re loved. One thing I know is they feel loved and secure and happy and needed and necessary and a part of something.”
Johnny Depp continued,
“I come from nothing but hillbillies and my mom said to me, All right here’s the deal, next time anybody puts their hands on you, ‘I never went out of my way to hurt anybody, to my mom’s exact words, Lay them out with a f*** brick. When I was a little kid, what I was taught was never f*** start a fight, but if somebody f** tags you or invades your f** world, finish the f** fight.”
Depp further talks about his mother and said,
“Her poor f**ing ass was on phenobarbital at 12. Maybe it’s an ashtray coming your way. Maybe you’re gonna get clunked with the phone. It was a ghost house — no one talked. I don’t think there ever was a way I thought about people, especially women, other than ‘I can fix them. She could be a real bitch on wheels. My mom was maybe the meanest human being I have ever met in my life.”
Things got pretty ugly between the former couple, and in May 2016, his ex-wife Amber Heard filed for divorce. The court proceedings were finalized in 2017 after the Never Back Down actress claimed her ex-husband Johnny Depp verbally and physically abused her during their relationship.
