‘Marriage scares the sh*t out of me’: Shakira Reveals She Always Wanted Pique To See Her As His Lover, Not A Wife – Could This Be Why Pique Cheated On Her?
Colombian pop singer, Shakira recently has a lot of issues in her personal life. From the suspected tax evasion case to the recent dating drama involving her ex-partner Gerard Pique, she has got a lot going on. Back in June 2022, the estranged couple made their separation official and dissolved their relationship after over 12 years of dating.
The couple has two sons, Milan and Sasha, however, the duo was never really married. They are currently engaged in a legal battle over who will have custody of their kids, but the Barcelona footballer has turned the spotlight on himself after being seen with his new partner with whom he had cheated on Shakira.
Shakira was scared of marriage
In an interview with CBS News, Shakira talked about her relationship with ex Gerard Pique. She described how the two had met and the reason they did not get officially married. “I wasn’t a soccer fan, so I didn’t know who he was,” told the singer as she described that she saw the Barcelona star in a video and found him cute. “And then someone decided to introduce us” Shakira recalled.
The host then proceeded to ask her about the fact that the two are not officially married, to which the Waka Waka singer replied that she is scared of marriage and wanted to be the athlete’s lover. “To tell you the truth, marriage scares the shit out of me. I don’t want him to see me as the wife, I’d rather him see me as his girlfriend” she said.
Gerard Pique cheated on the singer
It soon came to light that the footballer had been unfaithful to the singer and that is what led to their separation. According to journalist Marisa Martin Blazquez, Gerard Pique has been dating for a lot longer than has been assumed. The journalist corrected allegations that he had only been dating for six months the athlete has been seeing his recently revealed girlfriend, Clara Chia Marti, for about a year. The Barcelona footballer allegedly cheated on Shakira and then made his relationship with Clara Chia Marti soon after they broke up.
Shakira’s remarks might be the reason for the infidelity
In the interview with CBS News, Shakira told the reason for not getting married to the footballer. “His lover… His girlfriend… It’s like a little forbidden fruit.” the singer said. “I want to keep him on his toes. I want him to think that anything is possible depending on behavior.” The singer did say that anything is possible depending on behavior and something did happen, although it was not what she had meant or expected.
Shakira’s remark in the interview about keeping the footballer on his toes being the reason for not getting married has been getting quite some attention from the fans. It has even made them wonder if this was the reason that Gerard Pique cheated on her.
