“The anxieties just grow and grow and grow”: Cardi B Is Scared Of Met Gala Appearances
Cardi B has opted for ‘gray’ — specifically for the Met Gala 2023!
For the 2023 Gala, the rapper went back to her 2021 icy silver shade, even joking that it was “giving Karl [Lagerfeld]”. However, the gray hair was a stark contrast to her earlier appearance because, yes, she had worn two very distinct outfits that evening.
The 30-year-old rapper is always a sight to behold on the Met Gala red carpet. But Cardi B recently admitted that she constantly feels under pressure to dress better than she did the last time she walked the runway. The 2023 Met Gala at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art resumed its customary date of the first Monday in May. This was almost exactly one year after the 2022 occasion.
The event’s theme for this year is ‘In honor of Karl’, a tribute to the late, Karl Lagerfeld (the creative director of Chanel). A number of the biggest celebrities in the world attended the event in lavish outfits.

Cardi B Gets ‘Anxiety’ To Outdo Her Met Gala Looks
Cardi B spoke candidly about her fear of walking the Met Gala red carpet, but as the night went on, it didn’t deter the rapper from turning up in four different looks. The WAP artist debuted at the Met Gala in 2018 and since then, she has made appearances at the galas in 2019 and 2022. This time, she is displaying the pinnacle of avant-garde fashion with her turned-up diverse looks.
Cardi B spoke to Vogue about her anxiety surrounding Met Gala appearances while she was preparing for the 2023 event.
“Every single time that I got to the Met, it’s fun of course. But it’s like, I don’t know, like, after my first time going to the Met, I always get anxiety. And the anxieties just grow and grow and grow.”
She wore a dress designed by Chen Peng Studio at the 2023 Met Gala. It had a velvet skirt with large, black flowers made of velvet, a nod to Karl Lagerfeld with a sleeveless white shirt, and a black tie at the top.
She further added,
“Maybe because my looks are so spectacular that people just expect every year to be more amazing than the last, and it’s so hard because imagine competing with myself. That is sickening.”

In addition to her appearance on the red carpet, Cardi B also unveiled a different look as she left her hotel. She was wearing a pink mermaid gown with silver trim around the edge, a tulle back piece that extended over her head, and pearl bracelets, necklaces, and a headpiece.
She changed from her red carpet appearance into a pink tweed houndstooth gown designed by Richard Quinn, accessorizing with a sizable diamond cross necklace for the occasion.
She next donned a black Chenpeng Studio gown, which was her most famous red carpet-appearance. She imitated Karl Lagerfeld’s signature look by donning it over a white collared top with no sleeves and a black tie.
For her after-party outfit, she chose a skin-tight custom gown created by Sergio Castaño Peña of the Syndical Chamber. The velvet-silk pattern is actually laser-printed news articles about Karl Lagerfeld’s debut collection for Chanel.
In 2021, Cardi debuted her first silver hairstyle, which featured side bangs and a Snow Queen high ponytail with a chilly gray finish. The rapper is a master of color change, but if this hue persisted, we would definitely fall in love with her looks.
