Everbody’s favorite industry veteran, Russell Crowe talks about his possible return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe all while hailing Taika Waititi as a genius. On a very recent visit to a podcast hosted by Josh Horowitz, the actor shared his candid takes on very many things, but what intrigued the podcast listeners more, was his take, or a lack thereof on the recent Thor movie’s performance.

The actor got a chance to exercise his funny muscles, in the movie Thor: Love and Thunder, which didn’t do very hot at the box office. The MCU is very busy at the moment pumping out new content after the commencement of the fourth phase and the introduction of many new characters. Therefore, naturally, Josh Horowitz asked the actor if there is any chance that fans can expect him back as Zeus.

Russell Crowe avoided talking about Thor 4’s box office numbers

Although Russell Crowe seemed excited to return to the Marvel Universe, he very conveniently dodged talking about Thor: Love and Thunder‘s performance. It is no secret, that the movie did not do very well critically or box office-wise. It left many fans disappointed and upset. Fans are now getting tired of slapstick comedy according to the critiques although that wasn’t the only reason for it to fail so miserably. Well, the reasons have been discussed and debated countless times, and thus, is a waste of time for the one who chooses to return to it.

But the fans were eagerly waiting to get something out from Russell Crowe, who played Zeus in the film. Thus, probably to save himself time and difficulty, he refused to discuss the movie’s results while he was promoting his new movie on the Happy Sad Confused podcast. When asked if the fans are allowed to expect his presence in any upcoming Marvel projects, he simply replied,

“Well, nobody’s brought anything up with me, but, I mean, it seems like that’s the idea at the end of the last one, right? But, I don’t really know”

This answer definitely hints towards him being down for the idea, however, nothing as of yet is known for sure. Fans are hoping to see him return soon.

Russell Crowe claims Taika Waititi is a “creative genius”

During that same exact moment, when he shared the uncertainty of his return to The MCU, he also shared his working experience with the hilarious director, Taika Waititi. Crowe’s experience of playing the Greek god for the first time was made more memorable because of Waititi. The director in a different instance shared an interesting tidbit regarding a creative approach they took while working together. He said,

“We actually talked at length about the accent,—We wondered if someone did a Greek accent of a Greek god, is it going to be a farce? Will it be too silly? And Russell was very much wanting it to be Greek. But I wasn’t sure, so we ended up doing two versions of every take with Russell.”

The actor, who was very evidently smitten by Waititi in the interview advised young aspiring actors to take the opportunity of working with Taika Waititi without even a single doubt if it presents itself to them. He said,

“Yeah, look… if you’re a young actor and you get the opportunity to be on a set with Taika Waititi, take it. It’s a lot of fun, he’s a creative genius, but he’s also just a lovely bloke.”

Till now no confirmed news of the two personalities returning to the MCU is out in public, but fans hope the executives make something happen soon.
